Welcome to VegetableSeeds.info, the site where you can find useful information about various popular vegetables and growing them from seed aswell as tips for finding cheap seeds to sow and grow yourself. If you want to grow your own veg, create a kitchen garden or find veggie recipes then you've come to the right place! For those with limited space, growing vegetables in pots or planters may be the only option. Be it a balcony, a back yard, a paved terrace or other small outside space, there are many occasions where a dedicated vegetable garden simply may not be possible. It may be that you wish to try a few plants this summer before considering digging up the lawn and creating a vegetable plot. Maybe you've got kids to consider and it would be unfair to do away with what they regard as their soccer pitch. Perhaps you just don't want to commit that much time to growing vegetables and just fancy having some fun raising a few easy to grow plants. If you fall into any of the categories illustrated so far then you will be looking at growing your vegetables in pots and planters. The great thing about large pots and planters is that they are normally available at any DIY outlet, garden centre or hardware store where reasonably sized (12" plus) plastic pots may be found from a few pounds each. There is also a huge range of troughs, half barrels and other planters available on the market. Your local garden centre will usually have a display dedicated to such garden features. Some of the more expensive stone ones may be particularly attractive but they may not offer a great home for your veg. Depth is always a key issue and the more soil a plant has and the greater the depth it can reach down to with its roots the better. The most effective planter for your available space is probably not going to be the most visually appealing but putting the plants' needs first will always enable them to give you a better crop. Arranging plain green or brown plastic planters of different sizes on stones of different heights can be effective in adding some interest to their corner. Mixing pots of lower growing plants with pots containing frames, canes or trellis gives the collection greater variety. Pea plants will carry attractive flowers that are a welcome addition to any garden area and can be easily grown on a tall pyramid of trellis or lines. Small ground level plants like radishes or spring onions will grow happily in the other pots. A few plastic troughs of mixed leaves and a handful of tomato plants and you have the beginnings for some tasty summer salads without the need for a large expanse of ground. There's no reason to think that you will need a big budget to grow vegetables in pots or planters. There's a lot of fun and creative opportunity to be had if you just decide to use anything to hand that fits the bill. Old rubbish bins, plastic drums and steel canisters can all be painted in colourful tones or funky patterns to disguise their mundane origins and could all be used as a cheap but effective alternative to commercially produced pots and planters. Find veg information, cheap vegetable seeds and barrows of garden, greenhouse and window-box fun. Grow your own carrots, potatoes, courgettes, radishes, onions and other essential vegetables.
